Dodd Wealthcare is the financial-planning arm of Dodd & Co Accountants, a proudly Cumbrian firm. Dodd & Co Accountants was founded in 1981 and Dodd Wealthcare in 2015. We are directly authorised by the FCA (FRN 921450), offering whole-of-market independent advice with no provider tie-ins.

We've grown organically, without merger or acquisition, and we are fiercely independent: we are not being built to sell to a consolidator.

We're growing our paraplanning team and looking for an experienced Senior/Paraplanner to provide high-quality technical support to our financial planners, and to help mentor and develop the junior paraplanners coming up behind you. This is a role for someone who can handle complex casework with minimal supervision and hit the ground running.

What you'll do

  • Prepare suitability and review reports, cashflow analysis and product/provider research across pensions, investments, trusts and protection
  • Handle pension switches (excluding DB), investment switches and trust-based investment work. EIS/VCT exposure is useful but not essential; we are a considered, low-risk firm
  • Maintain accurate, compliant client records on iO (Intelligent Office) to FCA, GDPR and Consumer Duty standards
  • Support and mentor junior paraplanners and the client-services team

Who we're looking for

  • 4+ years' paraplanning experience, ideally having progressed from an administrator role within a wealth firm
  • Level 4 Diploma (minimum), committed to CPD; working towards, or interested in, Chartered status
  • Exposure to pension switches (non-DB), investment switches and trust-based investments
  • Confident with iO, CashCalc, FE Analytics or close, transferable equivalents (e.g. Voyant)
  • A team player who thrives in a close-knit firm where quality is everything
  • Commutable to Carlisle or Penrith (Cumbria, Kendal, North Lancashire or the Scottish Borders), or open to relocating

What you'll get

  • A competitive salary, reviewed against your experience and qualifications. We'd rather discuss it openly in a first conversation than reduce it to a number in an advert
  • Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on chargeable hours, almost unheard of locally
  • Genuine flexi-time: core hours are just 10 to 12 and 2 to 4, within a 7am to 7pm window. Build up time and take up to a half day back each week
  • Hybrid working: up to 3 days from home once established, after an initial office-based training period
  • 30 days' holiday plus bank holidays, buildable toward around 38 days via the flexi scheme
  • 5% employer pension, health & wellbeing plan, enhanced parental leave, paid professional subscription
  • Funded CII/CISI exams, study support and a clear path to Chartered
